Outreach Committee

Please contact Barbara Downing
for information regarding Outreach Committee presentations.

NYRCBA’s Outreach Committee was formed with the purpose of promoting rabbit education and showmanship to interested parties, especially youth. The committee is available for presentations, displays, hands-on demonstrations and speaking engagements. They provide literature and ARBA affiliated club information upon request. The committee consists of three dedicated individuals with various backgrounds in rabbit management.

OUTREACH COORDINATOR
Barbara Downing has raised rabbits both as a teen and as an adult and has competitively shown rabbits for the past 9 years. Although employed full time as a Sr. Utility Business Analyst, she still has found time to belong to several local and national clubs and sits on the State's 4-H Rabbit Advisory Committee for Cornell Cooperative Extension. She is an ANDRC charter breeder and has placed rabbits in both ARBA and ANDRC National Conventions. Her specialty is raising orange and fawn Netherland Dwarfs. Barbara works in the rabbit department at the New York State Fair and therefore has a great deal of interaction with the general public. This led to her desire to form the Outreach Committee for the NYR&CBA in the year 2000. In 2001 she was the proud recipient of the "Person Of The Year" award for website design and Outreach Committee involvement. In 2004 Barbara received another award in recognition for her years of service to the New York State Fair.
